Catherine Nicholson, age 95, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa died Monday September 15, 1986 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Services were held Thursday, September 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church, Cherry Mound with Rev. Don Hutchinson officiating. Burial was in St. Pius Church cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Calas Douglas, LeRoy Mettille, Ray Garin, Dale Mathis, Mike McGeough, and James Wachter.

Catherine was born January 13, 1891 in Fairview Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Patrick and Anna (O'Brien) Finnegan. She lived all her life in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. She attended public schools in the area. She married Edward Nicholson on October 9, 1911 at St. Joseph's Church in Paint Rock near Harpers Ferry, Iowa. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Cherry Mound, St. Pius Rosary Society, ACCW and SCVP.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward who died June 8, 1957 and her brothers, John Finnegan, William Finnegan, and Leonard Finnegan.

Surviving her are a son, Cleophus Nicholson, three nieces and three nephews.
