Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29 for Vienna Ida Shefelbine, age 82, who died Saturday, December 26, 1987 at her Waukon, Iowa home. The Rev. Dean Shelly will conduct the 1 p.m. funeral services at Martin Funeral Chapel with burial in the Dorchester Methodist Cemetery. Casket bearers are Larry and Ken Meyer, Darrell Ford, Paul Howes, John Hausman, and George Haler.

Vienna was born August 18, 1905 in Eveleth, Minnesota to Konstra and Ida (Pakkala) Wiitala. She attended rural Minnesota schools and received nursing training in Rochester, Minnesota. On September 12, 1925 she married George Shefelbine in Waukon, Iowa. They farmed in the rural Dorchester area. He died May 8, 1977. She was a homemaker and a volunteer at the county care facility doing craftwork projects with the residents.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and six brothers and sisters, Helmi, Impie, Arvid, Wilpus, Indo and Waino.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Norbert (Doris Ann) Meyer of Dubuque, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Larry Meyer of Dubuque, Iowa, Laina Ford of Waukon, Iowa and Ken Meyer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a granddaughter Melissa Ford and a brother Eino Wiitala of Embarrass, Minnesota.
