Funeral services Les Ihde were held Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa with the Reverend Steve Brackett presiding. The organist was Joann Martins. The Casket Bearers were: Dave Baker, Mike Kochk, Ryan Baker, Phil Bloomquist, Bryce Ruroden, Roger Winters, Matt Winters, Jeremy Winters. Honorary Casket Bearers were: William Ohloff, Clyde Thompson, Gerald Guyer, Virgil Reckward, Charles Schneider, Roger Monroe, Dean Bernhard, and Roger Bernhard. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Arrangements were by Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville.
Leslie Joseph Ihde was born September 4, 1934, in Winneshiek County, near Castalia, Iowa, to Lewis Christ and Laura Anna (Schnuelle) Ihde. He passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006, in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 11 days.
He was baptized September 23, 1949 and confirmed April 10, 1949, both in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia. In 1954 he became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Les attended the rural school near his home. He was married to Laura Rosine Baker in the Federated United Church of Christ at Jewell, Iowa by the Reverend Carl Dille. Les was employed as a farm laborer and also worked for Iowa Turkey Products in Postville and Sawyer Tie in Monona.
He is survived by his wife, Laura, a sister, Helen (Duane) Ruroden, Monona, IA, three brothers-in-law, Jim Baker, Larry Baker, and Edward Baker, a sister-in-law, Cheryl Baker, and several nieces and nephews, including, Roger (Chris) Winters, Bryce Ruroden, Samantha Andrews, David Baker, Vicky Koch, Ryan Baker, Rikki Baker, Tracy Bloomquist, and Faith Baker, and three great nephews, Matt Winters, Jeremy Winters, and Joshua Winters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lorenz, who died in infancy, and Larry Ihde, and a sister, Rosalia Ehde.
