Funeral services were held Thursday, April 9 for Herman Philip Marti, age 68, who died Monday, April 6, 1986 at his home in rural Luana, Iowa. Pastor April Larson officiated at the 11 a.m. services held at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran church. Burial was in the church cemetery with military services at graveside. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Robert Marti, Neil Leas, Lester Fish, George Decker, Carl Thornton, and Elmer Rush.

Herman was born June 29, 1918 in Makee Township, Allamakee County Iowa to Philip and Inga (Sorum) Marti. He attended rural schools and served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alton Marti, and Victor Marti.

Surviving are six brothers, Wilbur Marti, and Kenneth Marti of Waukon, Iowa, Gordon Marti and Lester Marti of Luana, Iowa, Marvin Marti of Lansing, Iowa and Grant Marti of Dubuque, Iowa and a sister Alice of Luana, Iowa.
