Viola L. Buntrock, age 85, died Tuesday, December 9, 1986 in Jefferson, Iowa. Services were held Saturday December 13 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Rippey with the Rev. Kenneth Suetterlin officiating. Burial was in the Rippey Cemetery with Slininger-Rossow Funeral Homes of Jefferson and Grand Junction in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Floyd Ashbacher, Jr., Delbert Ashbacher, Albert Ashbacher, George Ashbacher, Dale Buntrock, and Lyle Hoyle.

Viola was born April 24, 1901 in Allamakee County to Lewis and Minnie (Buege) Ashbacher. She attended rural schools. She married Melvin K. Buntrock January 1, 1925 at her home in Waukon, Iowa. They farmed in Allamakee and Howard Counties before moving to Churdan, Iowa area in 1948 where Melvin farmed and was a Dekalb seed corn dealer. They retired in 1971 and moved to the Senior Citizens Apartments in Rippey where they lived until their deaths. Melvin died July 11, 1973. She was a member of the Rippey United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; 2 brothers, Floyd Ashbacher and Jerome Ashbacher; 2 sisters, Leonette and Lois; and a grandson.

Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Lowell (Joyce) Hoyle of Moravia, Iowa, a sister, Selma Ebner of Lansing, Iowa, a brother John Ashbacher of Waukon, Iowa; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
