Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Cyril Ambrose Grady, age 73, were held Tuesday, April 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa, with Father Larry Duenas officiating. He died Saturday April 19, 1986 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Bill Farley, Ralph Welch, Mike Burke, Ben Quillin, Richard Loven, and Ernie Fruechte. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Cota, Terrance Peyton, Norbert A'Hearn, Irvin Snitker, Roger Grotegut, Pat Opfer, and Jack Halverson.
Cyril was born February 5, 1913 in Wexford, Allamakee County, Iowa to John A. and Susan (O'Hara) Grady. He attended school in Marquette, Iowa. He married Catherine Rooney at St. Patrick's Church. He was an employee of Cooney Construction. He served in World War II from 1941 to 1945 in New Guinea. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Lerch, 2 brothers, Leo Grady and Sylvester Grady, and a sister, Margurite.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; 3 sons, Donald Grady of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Charles Grady of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Terrance Grady of Maine; 2 daughters, Mrs. Gary (Shirley) Ambrose of Denver, Iowa and Mrs. Tom (Mary) Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Daniel Grady of Waukon, Iowa and James Grady of Riverside, California and one sister, Mrs. Don (Mary) Cota of Harpers Ferry, Iowa.
