Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 18 for Francis Schwartzhoff, 83, who died Sunday, May 15, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. The 10:30 a.m. services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dorchester, Iowa with the Rev. Henry W. Charipar conducting the services. Burial was in the church cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Steve, Tim, Jeff, Mike, and Greg Schwartzhoff and Jeff Byrnes. Mass servers were Joe Hammel, Matt Byrnes, and Greg Byrnes.

Francis was born February 4, 1905 in Dorchester, Iowa to Christian and Catherine (Danaher) Schwartzhoff. He attended rural Allamakee County Schools and Waukon High School. He owned a gravel pit, was a truck driver, and a farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Surviving is a sister, Gertrude Hoscheit of Caledonia, Minnesota.
