"Ducky" Hartman, age 79, of Lansing, Iowa who died Tuesday, February 2, 1988 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Pastor Tom Mattson officiated at the services held at United Methodist Church, Lansing, Iowa. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Jerry Seitz, Art McKee, Robert Sandry, Duane Peters, Louis Spinner, and Barney Diersen.
Charles was born June 21, 1908 near Burlington, Iowa to Zeblum and Nellie (Fletcher) Hartman. The family moved to Lansing in the early 1920's. On August 5, 1933 he married Luanna Hogan. She died February 4, 1976. He was a commercial fisherman for 55 years and a member of the Eastern Iowa Commercial Fishermen's Association. He was interested in politics and was a Republican committeeman for Lansing for many years. He also enjoyed duck hunting which is how he got his nickname "Ducky".
Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Schleeter of Carlisle, Iowa and Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Teff of Lansing, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
