Rose Cecilia Corrigan died Tuesday, March 15,1988 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa at the age of 91. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17 at St.Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Edward Lechtenberg officiating. Lector was Charles McCormick, nephew, and offertory gift carriers were her granddaughters, Coleen and Mary Rose Corrigan. Casket bearers were her grandsons Craig, Gerald, James, Jeffery, Patrick, Kevin, Joseph, and Mark Corrigan. Burial was in St.Joseph's Cemetery, Paint Rock near Harpers Ferry, Iowa with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Rose was born January 11, 1897 in rural Harpers Ferry,, Iowa to Michael and Paulina (Wachter) McCormick. She attended Wachter rural school. On September 12, 1922 she married James Corrigan at St.Pius Catholic Church in Cherry Mound. They farmed in rural Harpers Ferry and Waterville, Iowa areas before moving to Waukon in May 1969. James died July 14, 1969. She was a member of the St.Patrick's Church, N.C.C.W., Senior Citizens, Craft and Birthday clubs, V.F. W. auxiliary and the Farm Bureau. She received the Outstanding Senior Citizen award and the Honorary Cedar Rapidian award given by Mayor Donald Canney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa in July 1985.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Monica O'Neil, 3 brothers, James McCormick, Neal McCormick, and Charles McCormick, and 5 grandchildren.

Surviving are 11 sons, Cyril and Patrick Corrigan of Decorah, Iowa, Charles, Mark, Wayne, Robert, John, Richard, and James Corrigan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gerald Corrigan of Dubuque, Iowa and Michael Corrigan of Lake City, Minnesota; 39 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
