WAUKON, Iowa -- Alton Bulman, 87, of rural Dorchester, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 1985, in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.

He was born Jan. 5, 1898, in Dorchester to James and Mathilda (Hartley) Bulman.

He married Helga Sadler on May 2, 1922. She died Aug. 20, 1980.

He was a farmer and spent most of his life in Allamakee County except for three or four years in Preston, Minn.

He served on the Allamakee County Board for about 15 years.

Survivors are a daughter, Lois Wiedenmann, Waukon, four sons, Delbert and Loren, both of Dorchester; Dean of Caledonia, Minn.; and Robert of New Albin; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Mount Hope Presbyterian Church, rural Dorchester. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday after 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
