Hermanson, age 71, were held at St.Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa Saturday, December 17, 11 a.m. Father Edward Lechtenberg and Father Donald Hutchinson officiated. Interment was in the Hanover Cemetery. Hanson's Funeral Home, Waukon, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hermanson died at Veteran's Hospital in Waukon,Iowa on December 15, 1988. Casket bearers were Carl Snitker, Doug Snitker, Jerry Snitker, Rogney Snitker, Robert Short, and Bud Marsden.
Richard was born November 27, 1917 at Mason City, Iowa. His parents were Sever and Cecelia (McCormick) Hermanson. His mother died while he was very young. He made his home with relatives and attended the Waterville, Iowa Consolidated School. On February 8, 1937 he and Mary O' Hara were married at Lycurgus. He was a farmer. After the family moved to Waukon, Iowa he became a member of the St.Patrick's Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Robert and 5 brothers, Leonard, Ray, Leslie, Earl, and LeRoy Hermanson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, 2 sons, Richard, Jr., of Waterville, Iowa and David, of Waukon, Iowa; 1 daughter, Shirley, Mrs. Ray Wacker, of Boscobel, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a sister, Irene, Mrs. Herb Gourley, Dubuque, Iowa.
