Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Mrs. Linda Beardmore, a long-time Lansing, Iowa resident, died Friday, July 22, 1988. Funeral services were held Monday, July 25 at United Methodist Church in Lansing, with Pastor Tom Mattson presiding. Arrangements were by Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Iowa. Pallbearers were Robert Smith, Glen Connor, Joe Sweeney, Mickey Madden, Ray Sweeney, and Wayne Schmieden. Honorary pallbearers included Mary Steffen, Judy Iseli, Lucille Byrnes, Sandra Sorenson, Anita Sorum, Marge Wendel, Sister Catherine and Leonette Kernan.
Linda was born August 4, 1903, the eldest child of German immigrants Mary (Haselow) and Charles Kerstein. After graduating from Lansing High School in 1921 she took teacher's training and taught at the rural schools at Wexford, English Bench, Four Mile, and Dalby. In 1937 she married Eben Beardmore. Linda was a member of the old German Presbyterian Church and more recently of the United Methodist Church in Lansing, Iowa. Her hobbies included needlework, which won prizes at the county fair some 50 years ago, and gardening. For the past two years she lived at Thornton Manor in Lansing.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Eben, her brother Charlie Kerstein and sisters, Mata and Hulda. She is survived by 2 daughters, Lavonne Beardmore of New York City, New York and Linda Lou, Mrs. LaVerne Sorum of rural Waukon, Iowa.
