Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Franklin H. Haar, age 86, of Eitzen, Minnesota died Friday, December 2, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday December 5 at St.Luke's United Church of Christ, Eitzen with the Rev. Lane C. Zaffke officiating at the 11 a.m. services. Burial was in the church cemetery with Haugen-Roble Funeral Home of Caledonia, Minnesota in charge of arrangements.
He was born November 21, 1902 in Allamakee County, Iowa to Herman and Madalena (Meyer) Haar. He attended rural Allamakee county schools. On June 4, 1931 he married Mabel Monk at St.Luke's church. They farmed in Winnebago Township, Houston County and moved to Eitzen in 1971. For 20 years he operated school buses for Caledonia High School, Caledonia, Minnesota. He was a lifelong member of St.Luke's U.C.C. serving on its council for eight years. He also served on the Winnebago township board.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Lavonne Kennealy of Waterford, Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren; a brother, Edgar Haar and a sister, Hilda Beneke, both of Eitzen, Minnesota.
