Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held Tuesday March 21 for Linda L. Kirkeby who died Friday, March 17, 1989 from injuries sustained in a car-semi truck accident. She died at Winneshiek County Hospital in Decorah, Iowa at the age of 45. The 2 p.m. services were held at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Todd R. Cook officiating. Burial was in Phelps Cemetery with Fjelstul Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Loryl Bolson, Randy Borseth, Eric Kirkeby, Richard Kirkeby, Tony Krambeer, and Tim Lough. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Gramlich, Everett Kirkeby, Harlan Kirkeby, Dennis Krambeer, Bill Lough and Ken Lough.
Linda was born August 8, 1943 in Waukon, Iowa to Daniel and Ella Mae (Pratt) Gramlich. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1961. On November 9, 1963 she married Wayne K.R. Kirkeby in Waukon, Iowa. They owned and operated the Montgomery Ward store in Decorah for four years. She had been a jail matron at Winneshiek County jail since September. She was a member of New Minowa Players and was an avid member of Decorah High School Band Boosters.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Henry Kirkeby. She is survived by her husband, a daughter Kara, two sons, Daniel of Ridgeway, Iowa and David of Decorah, Iowa; her parents, Daniel and Ella Mae Gramlich of Waukon, Iowa; mother-in-law Ella Kirkeby of Decorah; a granddaughter Jennifer; two brothers, Gerald Gramlich of Waukon, Iowa and Robert Gramlich of Lansing, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Gloria) Lough of Waukon, Iowa and Mrs. Dennis (Peg) Krambeer of Decorah, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
