Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)A memorial service celebratiing the life of Anita Mae Carroll was held Monday, May 14 at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Rev. Gerald Condon officiated. At Anita's request, her body was cremated and her ashes buried next to her father, Earl Robinson, at the Mt.Olivet Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa.
Anita passed away April 28, 2001 in Mercy Hospital Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa of complications to diabetes. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Anita Mae was born April 26, 1935 in Waukon, Iowa to Earl and Marcella (Olson) Robinson. She attended school in Waukon and later earned her masters in history from St.Louis University. She taught American History, and English at the Waukon High School in the 1962-63 school year. She married Robert Carroll on July 27, 1963 in Waukon. They moved to Cedar Rapids. While raising her children Anita was a devoted homemaker, church and community volunteer. She also worked as an office manager with Carroll and Associates. Anita loved baseball, bingo, cooking, and watching westerns. Her greatest joy came from sharing time with her family and friends.
Anita was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and had been active there as eucharistic minister and lector. While residing at Living Center East, she was a member of the resident committee and enjoyed helping plan activites.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl D. Robinson. Anita is survived by her mother, Marcella Robinson of Waukon, Iowa; sons Robert Thomas Carroll and Patrick David Carroll, both of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Michael John Carroll of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Patrice Ann Murray and her husband, Terry of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Brittany Murray, and her pet, Wendybird.
