Funeral services were held Monday, February 20 for Ruby Henrietta Hansmeier, age 89, of Waukon, Iowa. She died Saturday, February 18, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. The 1:30 p.m. services were conducted by the Rev. Henry Heinbuch at Zion United Church of Christ. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Dick and Donnie Hansmeier, Willard Halverson, Oliver Roderick, Valiere Dundee, and Mervin Hilleshiem.

Ruby was a lifetime area resident. She was born July 8, 1899 in Waukon, Iowa to Herman and Anna (Rumph) Sherman. She attended rural Waukon schools to the eighth grade. On March 19, 1924 she married Theodore "Tade" Hansmeier at the home of her parents. He died December 26, 1959. She was a farmwife and homemaker. She was a member of Zion UCC and its Rebecca Circle, and Neighborhood Club.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Sherman and 3 sisters, Ruth, Ella and Anna Mae Sherman.

Surviving are a son Roger Hansmeier, a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Luella) Spiegler, both of Waukon, Iowa; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mabel Stock, Grace Prestemon, and Mrs. Howard (Lornal) Gordon, and a brother, William Sherman, all of Waukon.
