Norbert P. Welch, age 68, died Tuesday, April 4, 1989 at Lutheran General Hospital in Mt.Prospect, Illinois. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8 at St.Raymond Catholic Church with Father P. Loftus officiating. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery in Mt.Prospect with Friedrick's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Mike, David, Phillip, Jeffrey, Mark, Donald and Cletus Welch, Mike Morris, Carl Thorpe, and Cletus Rooney.

Norbert was born October 17, 1920 in Allamakee County to Peter and Mary (Whalen) Welch. He attended Allamakee County schools and served in the Navy. On June 15, 1946 he married Phyllis Whitley in Chicago, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by three children, Kathy, Keith, and Debra; his parents, and a sister, Mary Fink.

Surviving him are his wife, Phyllis; five sons, Donald, Mike, Phillip, and David, all of Chicago, Illinois, and Jeffrey, stationed in Germany with the US Army; a daughter, Cherin of Hollywood, Florida, and seven grandchildren; 3 brothers Kenneth of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Donald of Santa Monica, California and Cletus of Railto, California; 4 sisters, Jeanne Rooney of Waukon, Iowa, Agnes Thorpe of Des Moines, Iowa, Rita Dornan of Clearwater, Florida, and Julia Welch of Los Angeles, California.
