Horace D. Evans, age 86, of Marion, Iowa died Saturday November 19, 1988 at St.Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 22 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection with the Rev. Richard Lehmann conducting the services. The Rev. Lynn Groe of St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon conducted the 2:30 graveside services at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa.

Horace was born August 29, 1902 in Waukon to Clarence and Edith (Durant) Evans. On September 15, 1924 he married Gladys Roese in Waterville, Iowa. They farmed in the Waukon area until 1946 when they moved to Anamosa, Iowa to operate a hardware store until 1962. They moved to Marion in 1966. Gladys died November 17, 1982. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion.

Surviving are a son, Rolland Evans of Marion, a daughter Edithmerle "Em" Merulla Schultz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandsons, two great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Harold Evans of Waukon, Iowa and Leslie Evans of Lansing, Iowa.
