Hazel R. Siem, 84, Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Saturday, April 8, 1989 in Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services were held Tuesday, April 11 at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Turner Chapel East was in charge of arrangements.

Cousins from this area who attended the funeral were Norma Svendson, Ruth Toney, Ramona Peterson, and Carol Kiesau. Milton Schneider took them to Cedar Rapids.

Hazel, a daughter of Jonas and Randine (Pladsen) Siem was born July 22, 1904 at Waterville, Iowa and also lived in Waukon, Iowa for a few years.

She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a master's from the University of Iowa. She was an elementary school teacher for over 40 years in the Cleghorn, Tipton, and Cedar Rapids school districts. She was a member of First Lutheran, Keen-agers, local and national associations of retired teachers, the Iowa State Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Cedar Rapids Women's Club.

In addition to her cousins, she is survived by a sister, Oline Siem of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
