Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not Related)Sonya Karleen Christianson, 50, died Sunday, March 12, 1989 at her rural Lansing, Iowa home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 15 at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, Waterville, Iowa. The Rev. Lynn Groe conducted the 11 a.m. services and burial was in the church cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born January 5, 1939 in Marshalltown to Paul and Ruth (Mork) Liddle and attended schools in Marshalltown, Iowa and Fairbanks, Iowa before graduating from Waukon High School. She attended one year at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa. On June 7, 1959 married Carlton Christianson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa. She had been a teacher with Head Start in New Albin, Iowa, Waukon Nursery School, and at the time of her death at Kee-Land Pre-School in Lansing, Iowa. She was a member of Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church and various church organizations, and Northeast Iowa Quilters' Guild.
Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Robyn) Collins of Waterville, Iowa and Paula Christianson of Waukon, Iowa; two sons, Jeffrey and Jerry, both of Lansing; her mother, Ruth Liddle of Waukon; two grandchildren, Renae and Nathon, and a brother Linus Liddle of Alexandria, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her father. Casket bearers were Gary Kolsrud, Conrad Roldson, Carmen Christianson, Arlo Mork, Lyle Larson, and Ordell Sorenson.
Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Brickman, Norman Rema, Kyrre Swenson, Kenneth Forde, Minnie Leidahl, Bernadine Jones, Beulah Odegard, Grace Sorenson, Iona Crawford, Leonard Crawford, Laura Brickman, Ione Rema, Amanda Swenson, Jean Forde, Emmett Jones, Ray Odegard, Milton Hove, and Marge Hove.
