Services for former Waterloo resident Velma A. Hansmeier, 88, of the Western Home, Cedar Falls, IA were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 25 at the Western Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories, Waterloo, Iowa.The Kearns Service of Waterloo was in charge of arrangements.

Velma died Thursday September 21, 1989 at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls. She was born October 30, 1900 in Mount Zion, Wisconsin, the daughter of David W. and Delthia (Day) Turk. She married Roy S. Hansmeier March 7, 1923 in Waukon, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Robert Hansmeier of Janesville, Iowa and Atley Hansmeier of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Sorum of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, Mrs. Vesta Powell of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Rama Turk of Richland Center, Wisconsin; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Floyd, Eldon, Harry, and Merle Turk; four sisters, Mrs. Margy Jones, Mrs. Mildred Tory, Mrs. Ethel Hansmeier, and Mrs. Hazel Hansmeier.
