Funeral services were held Thursday, November 9 for former Waukon, Iowa resident Anna Marie Colsch, 94, who died November 4, 1989 in Hemet, CA. The Rev. Larry Olson conducted the 1:30 p.m. services at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. Burial was in the New Albin Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was born August 30, 1895 in Crooked Creek, Houston County, MN to William and Margaret (Handke) Neumann. She attended rural Houston County schools through the eighth grade and on April 7, 1915 she married George John Colsch in Crooked Creek Church. They farmed until 1934 when they moved to Waukon. George died May 9, 1973 and she moved to Hemet in October 1988.

Surviving are two sons, Lawrence of Ferryville, WI and Charles of Canyon Lake, CA; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Pratt of Hemet, Mrs. Roy (Esther) Svebakken of Decorah,Iowa, Mrs. Mabel Haller of West Union, Iowa, and Mrs. Merle (Marie) Lubka of Postville; 17 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Josie Gerkey of Waukon.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Elmer, a daughter Laura, a grandson, Gary Lubka; a granddaughter, Sharon Svebakken; four brothers, William, Julius, Henry and Fred Neumann, and two sisters, Clara Pohlman and Rose Fink.

Casket bearers were Leslie Pratt, Gene Svebakken, Richard Svebakken, Darrell Colsch, Leland Lubka, and Reggie Lubka.
