Steve Jones, 43, of Waterville,Iowa, died Friday, March 12, 1999. Funeral Services were held Monday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Pius Cherry Mound Catholic Church, rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa with Father Robert Levenhagen officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was in the Sixteen Cemetery, rural Monona, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

John Steven Jones was born February 25, 1956 in Waukon, the son of John C. and Florence (Behning) Jones. He attended Waterville elementary school and Waukon High School before serving in the United States Navy.

On September 10, 1977 he married Wendy (Walters) Waters at St. John's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, WI. He owned and operated "Steve Jones Logging' in Waterville for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a son Dan and a daughter, Jessica, all of Waterville; his mother of Harpers Ferry; four sisters, Linda and husband Gary Moreland of McGregor, Karen Houg of Marquette, Pam and husband Tim Doyle and Mary and husband George Smith, all of Monona, and two brothers, Nick and wife Lois Jones of Waukon, and Todd and wife, Marsha Jones of McGregor.

He is preceded in death by his father. Honorary casket bearers were George Schaller, Chad, Andy and Dwight Jones.
