Funeral services for Bernadine Gunderson were held Tuesday, April 22, 1986 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Bernadine Elizabeth Gunderson, daughter of Cevert and Ethel (Dahms) Meyer was born December 9, 1920 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She died April 19, 1986 at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. She was baptized January 2, 1921 at St.Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and confirmed there in 1934. She graduated from Postville High School in 1938.

On July 4, 1954 she was married to Ridar Gunderson. They were parents of four sons and a daughter. They lived in New Jersey and California. Bernadine and her sons moved to Postville in 1967. Besides caring for her family, Bernadine had been employed at various banks, the Postville Herald, and had been the Deputy City Clerk of Postville for five years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ridar, who died in April of 1965, a daughter, Terri Lynn and her father Cevert.

Surviving are four sons, Eric and his wife, Annette of Saugus, CA, Chris and David, both of Postville and Richard and his wife, Renee of Castalia; five grandchildren, Jessy, Vicki, Rebecca, Dusti and Carrie; her mother, Ethel Meyer and a brother, Loren "Gus" Meyer and his wife, Betty, all of Postville and a sister LaVerna and her husband, Kenneth Barker of Dubuque.

Casket bearers were Joe McNeil, Bernald Martins, Forest Kelly, Thomas Hogan, Ambrose Waters, and Philip Hofer.
