Funeral services for Hilda Bruns were held Thursday, January 16, 1986 at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville,Iowa. Rev. Terrance Hennesy officiated. The organist was Beverly Bacon who accompanied the soloist, Colleen Hennesy.The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in the Grand Meadow Cemetery, rural Luana, Iowa.

Hilda Leah Bruns, daughter of Chester and Eula (Jones) Pearson, was born December 20, 1912 near Hardin in Clayton County. She died Sunday, January 12, 1986 in Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI. She attended the West Grove School, graduated from Postville High School and was enrolled at Upper Iowa University in Fayette for one year.

On May 3, 1933 she was married to Fred Bruns in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They were the parents of a son, Dan. They lived in several different areas but returned in the mid-40's to farm east of Postville. They moved to Monona in 1958 and then returned to Postville in 1971. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her husband, Fred, their son, Dan of Garnavillo, a step-daughter, Norma (Mrs. Alvin Grahm) of Clackamus, OR; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary (Mrs. Don White) of Postville and Frances (Mrs. Jim Foster) of Burlington, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

Hilda was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville and had been active in the Methodist Church when they had lived in Luana.Casket Bearers were Jerome Lenth, Ordell Kjosa, David Schierholz, Elmer Heins, Milton Schierholz, and Brent Bruns.
