Joseph Eugene Munz, 76, of Elkader, died Monday, December 6, 2010, at the Elkader Care Center. He was born April 29, 1934, in Decorah, to George B. and Evelyn M. (Auer) Munz. He graduated from Monona High School in 1952. Joseph entered the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955.
He was united in marriage Geraldine Wagner on December 29, 1956, at St. John Church in North Lake Village, IL. Throughout his life, Joseph farmed, did trucking and construction work. He worked for Luana Coop, Strawberry Point Feed and Grain, and drove truck for Cedar Rapids Steel.
Survivors include his children, Jay Munz of Elkader and Janet (Doug) Zimmerman of Postville; two grandchildren, Christopher (Jolene) Zimmerman of Farley and Michael (Katy) Zimmerman of Hawkeye; a great-grandchild, Ryan Zimmerman.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine; brother, Francis Munz and half sister, Sandra.
