Frederick Newel Beedy was born Jan. 10, 1853, in Grand Meadow township, Clayton co. Iowa. At four years of age his parents moved into Allamakee county and at the age of 12 years, he, with his parents, came to Postville, where he has lived since, with the exception of five years spent in Boone, Iowa.

Jan. 1, 1879, he was united in marriage with Miss Frances Allen. Four children were born of this union, two girls and two boys, one boy going to the life beyond at three years of age. He leaves a wife, two daughters, one son and three sisters to mourn the early death of a kind, loving husband, father and brother.

His death occurred Thursday, June 27th, and followed a lingering illness.

His parents, N.J. and Mary E. Beedy were old time residents of Postville, where his father held positions of public trust. The deceased was of a quiet and reticent nature. He was respected for his integrity and unassuming character by all.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in M.E. church, where a sermon was preached by Rev. D.M. Parker, and were largely attended. There were more than fifty of the M.W.A. to follow the remains to the cemetery.

Note: year of birth was hard to read, may be 1858
