Katherine Lee, 86, died Thursday, March 23, 1995 at Thorton Manor Nursing Center, Lansing, following a lingering illness.
Katherine was born Feb. 8, 1909 in rural Lansing, the daughter of Henry J. and Mathilda (Gavin) Wagner. Katherine and George Lee were united in marriage at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Caledonia, MN. They lived in Caledonia for a few years before moving to Lansing where they resided at North 2nd Street. Katherine moved to Thorton Manor several years ago due to failing health.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Lansing, she was active in parish work, and was also a member of the Rosary Society and the Senior Citizen Group.
Besides working as a sales clerk at the local grocery store and dry good store, Katherine worked at Lansing Button Company until retirement.
Survivors include her son George (Carmen) Lee; two grandchildren, Andrea (Daniel) Manning and Aaron Lee; two great grandchildren, August and Autumn Manning; and a sister, Agatha Spinner, all of Lansing and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, Feb. 21, 1976; her parents and three sisters, Marie Wagner, Cecelia Gruber and Coletta Omdahl.
Sunday wake services were led by Sister Catherine Schmidt. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Lansing, with Father Herbert Tegeler officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing.
Serving as pallbearers were her nephews, Joe Soblik, Sam Bell, Bob Mefferd, Bill Gruber, Tom Gruber and John Gruber.
Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of arrangements.
