SCHULTZ, Kenneth John
Kenneth John Schultz, son of August and Dorthea (Schultz) Schultz was born on July 1, 1910 in Post Township and passed away on July 2, 1976 at the age of 66 years and one day. He attended Postville Public School graduating in 1928. Services were held on Monday, July 5, 1976 at the Community Presbyterian Church with Rev.Dick F. Harberts officiating. Casket bearers were Harold Schroeder, Leo Morch, Lyle Zieman, Alvin Thoreson, Robert F. Schneider, and Ed W. Kozelka. Honorary bearers were Harvey Schultz, Milton F.Kiesau, Ronald Taylor, William A, Kneeland, and Roland K. Gray. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Esther S. Deering on June 14, 1933, in the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. To this union three children were born: Donna, John K., and Barbara.
In 1928, he began delivering milk for the Sunny View Dairy owned by his father. He purchased the business from his father in 1942 and continued it until 1948. Kenneth lived on the home farm being a progressive farmer and active in many community affairs;director of the Postville Creamery Board for 15 years; 2 years as director of the Northeast Iowa Dairy Cooperative; member of Tri-County School Board for 12 years; Keystone Area Education Board for 2 years, resigning due to his recent illness; served on Postville State Bank board from 1969 until his death; trustee of the Community Presbyterian Church and chairman of the building committee for the new narthex; charter member of the Postville Kiwanis Club and serving in many capacities including president and vice president.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Esther, and his children, Mrs. Larry (Donna) Reed of Eldora, Iowa, John K of Postville, and Mrs. Glenn (Barbara) Isserstedt of Coralville, Iowa; 8 children, Lynnae and Amber Reed; Kent, Deanna, Margaret, and Kirk Schultz; Matthew and Mark Isserstedt. There are two brothers; Lawrence of Luana, Iowa and Harry of Postville, Iowa; 5 sisters: Mrs. Charles (Velma) Ohloff of Postville, Iowa; Mrs. Milda Waters of Highland, Indiana; Mrs. Ed(Gertrude) Kohl of Fairbault, Minnesota; Mrs. Ira (Mardella) Brooks of Santa Cruz, California; and Mrs. Doris Albertson of Boise, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy and Elmer, and one sister, Mrs. J.O. (Bertha) Wirshing.
