MICHAEL DEVITT FUNERAL MONDAY
A mass of Requiem was offered Monday at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick Church for Michael Devitt, 92, whose death occurred at Waukon Veterans Memorial hospital Friday, Feb 1, following an illness of four days.
Mr. Devitt was born Jan 5, 1871, in Waukon, a son of Martin and Mary Drew Devitt. He lived in Waukon vicinity all of his life except of 12 years when he resided in Mulhall, Okla. In 1902, he married Mary Donevan at St. Mary's Church, Lycurgus and they lived on a farm in Hanover township until they moved to Waukon in 1962.
Mr. Devitt is survived by his wife and the following children; Martin, Chicago; Leo and Harold, Waukon; Mrs. Thomas (Mabel) Hayes, Mrs. John (Margaret) Higgins, Mrs. John (Agnes) Finnegan, Mrs Ed (Hazel) Grayson all of Chicago; Mrs. P. J. (Alice) Delaney, Decorah and Mrs. Vincent (Loretto) Hancock, Waterloo. There are 14 surviving grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a brother, Francis of Waukon.
Mr. Devitt was a member St. Partick Church of Waukon where the Rev. John McDonald sang the funeral mass.
