Helen Hattie Ida Duwe, 92, Postville, Iowa, died Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. She was born on August 26, 1918, in Postville, Iowa, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Bareis) Duwe. She was baptized on October 19, 1918, by Rev. Schmidt and confirmed on March 20, 1932, by Pastor R. B. Garten. She attended Springfield School in Grand Meadow Township in Postville, Iowa. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church WELCA since 1953.

Survivors include one sister, Clara Schroeder, Waukon, Iowa; two nieces, Inez (Ky) Kirkeberg, Monona, Marian (George) Frederich and three nephews, Kenneth Schroeder, West Des Moines, Keith Schroeder, Waukon, Wayne Schroeder, North Liberty.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roy Duwe, Harvey Duwe; three sisters, Celia Engelhardt, Florence Schutte, Viola Duwe and two nephews, LeRoy Duwe, Leo Schroeder.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Steve Brackett will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
