Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home for Elbe L. McGhee, 68, who passed away suddenly last Friday at the Clarence Thomson farm following a heart attack.

The rites were in charge of Rev. Walter T. Martin, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church. Burial was at Minert Cemetery.

Elbe L. McGhee, son of Lucius H. and Ruth M. McGhee, was born December 23, 1882 in Allamakee county, Iowa. He passed away at the age of 68 years at the Clarence Thomson farm north of Postville Friday, October 5, 1951, following a sudden heart attack.

He attended the United Brethren Church of Bethel.

Mr. McGhee is survived by his sister, Mrs. Sander Swenson of Postville; three nephews, Clifton McGhee of Dubuque, Harlan W. Swenson of Cedar Rapids, Lloyd W. Swenson of Mason City; and two nieces, Mrs. Ronald C. Grays of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mrs. Clarence Thomson of Postville.

Elbe McGhee, who spent most of his life farming, had a deep affection for God's creations in nature. He loved to watch and study the habits and ways of birds. Beautiful flowers gave him much joy in life. He possessed the admirable qualities of meekness, kindness and honesty. His appreciative mind made of him a constant reader of good writings.
