Gladys M. Gustat, age 86, of Peru, IL and formerly of Lansing, IA, died Friday, April, 20 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28 in the Mueller and Pagani Funeral Home in LaSalle and at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle. Rev. Dale Maloy will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Joliet, IL. Visitation will be Saturday, April 28 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Gladys was born July13, 1914 in French Creek Township to John and Elizabeth (Favre) Fitzgerald and grew up in the Lansing area. She graduated from St. Francis College, Joliet, in 1936.
She married Joseph L. Gustat Feb. 9, 1943 in St. Raymond's Church, Joliet. She was a teacher in St. Mary's Elementary School, Streator, IL. After moving to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1970, she joined St. Pious X Catholic Church, and was a volunteer teacher for reading lab in Ft. Lauderdale schools.
Gladys is survived by a son, Frederick (Cynthia) Gustat of Peoria, IL: two grandchildren; and one sister Cyrilla (John) Welch of Rochester, NY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died June 18, 1976, and three sisters.
