Louis Sherman, early settler of the Waukon area died Monday afternoon at his home following a series of strokes. He was born on a farm near Waukon Dec. 25, 1873, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sherman. On Dec. 30, 1908, he was married to Vernie Shattuck at the Salem Reformed Church in Ludlow and lived on the home farm until 11 years ago when he and his wife retired to Waukon. Her death occurred March 11, 1952.
His survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Mulroy McDermott of Waukon and three sons, namely, Ralph at home; Paul on the home farm and Rev. Willard Sherman of Pittsville, Wis. There are nine grandchildren. An only sister, Lena Haas lives in Worthing S.D. and will be present for the funeral services.
The funeral will be held from Martin Bros. Funeral parlors to the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with services conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W.E. Odenbach. Burial will be made in Oakland Cemetery.
