Louis E. Johnson, 65, of Manchester, IA died Sunday, March 31, 1991 at Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Manchester from an apparent stroke suffered earlier in the day.
He was born in rural Lansing to Carl and Flossie (Parrott) on August 14, 1925. He attended rural schools at French Creek and Mays Prairie. At age 16, the family moved to Manchester.
Louis served with the military in Europe during WWII, where he received a purple heart.
On November 26, 1947 he married Drusilla McKee Schwartzhoff. They lived in the Lansing area until moving to Manchester in 1969.
Survivors include his wife, Drusilla; a step-daughter, Alty Malone of Marion; two step-sons, Kenneth Schwartzhoff of Manchester and Edwin Schwartzhoff of Janesville, WI; nine step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren; his father Carl "Gene" Johnson of Decorah, and a brother Emmett Johnson, Decorah.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday), at Shelly Funeral Home in Manchester, with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Manchester American Legion and VFW.
