Della R. Shogren, 97, died Thursday, June 20, 1991 at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon.
She was born May 24, 1894 in Waterville to David and Carolotte (Hanson) Shogren.
Della attended Center #3 rural school. She never married and was active in all aspects of the family farming operation. She and her sister Gertrude, wove rugs for people on their loom. Della also liked to garden and cook and made lost (sic) of pies, cakes and did canning. She played the piano and gave lessons in her younger years.
Della was a member of the Center Baptist Church and active in the Ladies Aid for the church.
She is survived by one sister, Gertrude Shogren; one niece, Mrs. Harlan (Delores) Schellhammer; three nephews, Gene, Kenneth and LaVern Shogren.
Della was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alden and Salem Shogren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 23, at the Martin Funeral Chapel, Waukon, Rev. Bill Patterson officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Lynn Schellhammer, Larry Schellhammer, Terry Shogren, Dave Shogren, Danny Shogren and Derrick Shogren. Honorary pallbearers were Lester Shogren. Vernon Shogren, Edmund Anderson, Edgar Ericson, Conrad Roldson and Clifford Dahlsad.
