William Stopperan, 69, formerly of Postville, passed away at his home near Cresco June 5, and funeral services were held at Cresco a week ago Saturday.

He was born in Postville February 4, 1871, and spent his boyhood and youth here. He married Frieda Warnke on December 21, 1897, and to them nine children were born, of whom six survive, as does the wife.

He had been a resident of Howard county for the past 40 years.

Mr. Stopperan is also survived by a brother and four sisters: Fred Stopperan, Mrs. Sophia Meyer, Mrs. Louis Luebka, all of Postville, and Mrs. Fred Bareis of Castalia and Mrs. Henry Bareis of Cresco.
