Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Brandt of Philadelphia, Pa., were conducted in Postville Sunday afternoon. Early services were held in the home of her father, Wm. C. Foels, with later services in St. Paul's Lutheran church. She was 50 years old.
Pallbearers were all nephews of Mrs. Brandt: Clinton and Robert Meyer, Maurice and Earl Neverman, Leonard Oldag and Carl Diederichs.
Mrs. Brandt was the former Miss Louise Foels. She was born March 17, 1890, on the Foels farm north of Postville, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Foels. The early years of her life were spent in this community where she worked in the Farmers store and the C.W. Meier store.
On April 19, 1919, she was married in Postville to Walter Brandt. The moved directly to Philadelphia after their marriage to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Brandt also spent a few years in Williamsburg and Scranton, Pa., returning to Philadelphia where Mrs. Brandt passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, June 12.
Mr. Brandt was unable to come to Postville for the funeral as he is in ill health. In addition to Mr. Brandt, she is survived by her father, two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Oldag and Mrs. C.C. Meyer, and two brothers, Wm. Foels of Harmony, Minn. and Otto Foels, living at home. She was preceded in death by her mother on July 4, 1938.
Out of town friends and relatives who attended the Brandt funeral Sunday were the following: Mr. and Mrs. Will Foels, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Diederichs and Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Arnesson, all of Harmony, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Foels, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Slaak, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Gehring and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gehring, all of Woseca, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Brandt of Fort Atkinson; Mrs. John Schroeder and Mrs. Earl Bachelder of Castalia; Walter Brandt and Emil Kamp of Frankville; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahl of St. Olaf; Mrs. Irene Ostlie and Mr. and Mrs. John Shipton of Clermont; Mrs. John Krambeer and Hilma of Monona; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Zieman of Luana; Mr. and Mrs. Neverman, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Neverman and Maurice, and Otto Foels of Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Price, Mrs. Martha Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Meyer of Castalia; Mrs. Viola Bayer of Philadelphia, Pa. Mrs. Bayer was a close friend of the late Mrs. Brandt and accompanied the body to Postville.
