Jasper D. Sheriff

LANSING, Iowa - Jasper D. Sheriff, 86, of 690 Center St., Lansing, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1988, in St. Francis Medical Center, La Crosse.

He was born Oct. 18, 1901, in Dorchester, Iowa, to Charles and Sarah (Burroughs) Sheriff.

He married Clara Logas Rossi Dec. 24, 1940, in Lansing.

Sheriff worked for the city of Lansing.

Survivors are his wife; a son, Gerald of Cedar Rapids; two step sons, James Rossi of Lannon, Wis., and Robert Rossi of Sacramento, Calif.; a step daughter, Dorothy Forney of Seattle; two brothers, Merlin and Forrest, both of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by five brothers and a step son.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing. The Rev. Robert P. Rahe will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing. There will be a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
