FRED W. MEISKE

Fred W. Meiske, 74, of Orlando, Florida died Tuesday morning after a short illness. The body was returned to Dubuque and taken to the Haudenshield Funeral Home where services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery.

He was born October 21, 1876 in Minden, Germany. He came to this country when a young man and made his home in the Postville vicinity. For a time he worked at farming, was in the draying business and for many years was the proprietor of the Commercial Hotel.

He was in the produce storage business both here and at Hartley until he retired and with Mrs. Meiske moved to New York City. His wife was Julia Rasmusen of Postville and she passed away in February, 1948. He then went to Orlando, Florida and had made his home there.

Surviving are a son, Cloy and his wife and a granddaughter, Barbara, all of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, two sisters, Mrs. Louis Heins of Postville and one living in Germany, a brother Christ Meiske of Hartley, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Stoltz of Dubuque, a brother-in-law, Otto Rasmusen of Orlando, Florida and nieces and nephews.
