Chris Levenhagen Funeral Rites Held
Funeral services for Chris Daniel Levenhagen, 73, were held Wednesday afternoon, April 23, at 2 o'clock at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church with Rev. R. E. Langholz and Rev. Fred F. Darnauer officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 1 o'clock in the afternoon until the time of the services. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery.
Mr. Levenhagen entered a Prairie du Chien hospital Thursday, April 17, and died there Sunday morning, April 20.
He was born a son of John and Albertina, nee Gipp, Levenhagen, Dec. 16, 1895, in Allamakee county. He was baptized Jan. 18, 1896, and was confirmed April 11, 1915. He received his education in the rural school of his home community.
He was married to Emma Kiester, March 18, 1925, at Watson with Rev. O. Hillman officiating. They lived on several farms northeast of Monona, moving to the farm on which he lived at the time of his death in 1944. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, who died Feb. 6, 1968; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Anna) Kuester; and seven brothers: Rudolph, Adolph, John, Paul, Fred, and two who died in their childhood.
Surviving are eight daughters: Mrs. Frank (Lovina) Timmerman and Mrs. Burton (Margie) Schlein of Monona, Mrs. Milton (Mary) Turner and Mrs. Marvin (Darlene) Miller of Postville, Helen of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Charles (Edna) Patrick of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Dallas (Agnes) Valley of Prairie du Chien, and Mrs. Tony (Lillian) Eldreth of Monona; two sons, Donald and Harvey of Monona; a foster son, Earl Riggen of Rockford; and two brothers, Otto of Rockwell and Erick of Mason City; and 34 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles, Palmer, Frederick, Loren, Lawrence and Orrin Levenhagen.

Both Chris & his wife are buried in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, Monona, Clayton county, Iowa. The church referred to in the obit probably was St. Paul's in Monona rather than St. Paul's in Postville.
