Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Edwin Grotegut and at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Carl H. Luebka, 76, who passed away Saturday, February 4, 1950, following a lingering illness.
The rites were conducted by Rev. F. R. Ludwig. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Carl H. Luebka, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Luebka, was born October 10, 1873 at Middleton, Wisconsin, and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edwin Grotegut, in Postville.
Mr. Luebka was received into active membership in the Lutheran Church in the St. Paul's Lutheran congregation of Postville.
Mr. Luebka was united in marriage with Anna Ehde, of Postville, on December 15, 1899, at St. Paul's. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive the passing of their father.
At an early age, Mr. Luebka accompanied his parental family to Postville, which became his home for the remainder of his life. After his marriage he established the family home on a farm northeast of Postville. He engaged in farming until about 15 years ago, when he retired from farming and moved to Postville. On the death of Mrs. Luebka in March 1946, Mr. Luebka made his home with his children and continued to do so until his passing.
Left to mourn his death are his four children: Amanda, Mrs. Alvin Gruel, Ruby, Mrs. Albert Grotegut, Gertrude, Mrs. Lester Jahnke, and Adaline, Mrs. Edwin Grotegut, all of Postville; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Louis Luebka, of Postville.
Mr. Luebka was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one grandson; two brothers: William and John, and one sister, who died in infancy.
