Edward Looney Last Rites Held
Funeral services for Edward Ellsworth Looney, 45, were held Monday morning, Feb. 1, at 10:30 o'clock at St. Bridget's Catholic church at Postville. The Rev. J. A. Sullivan was in charge of the rites. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery at Monona.
Mr. Looney died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Postville hospital where he had been a patient for four days.
He was born the son of Edward A. and Evelyn (Henkes) Looney, Jan. 31, 1919 at Waterloo, Iowa.
He attended grade school in Grand Meadow township and graduated from the Postville high school in 1937.
He was married to Gloria Garms Aug. 30, 1947, at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Monona. The couple lived in Monona for 10 years while Mr. Looney was employed as a route salesman for the Clayton county Farm Bureau. Later they farmed near Postville before moving to Hampton, where he was a technician for Eastern Iowa Breeders. in 1954 they returned to Postville, where he was associated with Water's Dairy and then became a distributor of Meadow Gold dairy products. For the past seven years he was manager of the Iowa Liquor Store at Postville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his father in July 1961. Surviving are his wife; a son, Thomas; a daughter, Judy; his mother, Mrs. Ed Looney, Sr.; and four bothers, Kenneth of New Hampton, Jim of Clayton Center, Ambrose of Postville, and Ray of Luana.
Pallbearers were Dan NcNiel, Joe NcNiel, Paul Waters, Stanley Schroeder, Lorien Meyer, and Thomas Hogan.
