Phyllis was born August 30, 1927 to Ignatius and Julia (Sheehan) Imhoff. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She graduated in 1944 from New Albin High School. She then worked in Rochester, MN and Dubuque.
She married Leonard Heiderscheit June 14, 1948. They shared over 61 years together and were blessed with nine children. Phyllis focused her life on her faith and her family. While Leonard worked outside the home to provide for their family, Phyllis worked within the home to lovingly nurture their children. She was selfless in her commitment as a wife and mother. Her greatest joys included praying, having family gatherings, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, cheering on New Albin and Kee High sports teams, delivering treats and surprises to friends, dancing - especially the polka, and having a full house.
She is survived by her husband and their beloved children, Michael (Melinda) of Pryor, OK, Richard (Bebe) of La Crescent, MN, Mary (Alan) Orthaus of Lake City, MN, Julie (Gene) Schultz of Lansing, Mark (Kathleen) of New Albin, Terry (Kristin) of Rochester, MN, Chris (Patty) of Holmen, WI, Tim (Jill) of New Albin and Pat (Janet) of Lansing. Also surviving are 24 cherished grandchildren Alecia, Mollie, Emilie, Elise, Amy, Courtney, McKenze, Gabriel, Quin, Abraham, David, Christina, Alexander, Donna, Tessie, Luka, Nellie, Evan, Julia, Colin, Coady, Matt, Jonathon, and Ellie; five treasured great-grandchildren, Lexi, Brennan, Mikey, Logan and Isabella; many special nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Patricia Imhoff Curran; and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and her husband, Ruth and Wilbur Mark; and her brothers and their wives, Vincent and Joyce, Edmund and Mickey, Robert and LuAnn, Lawrence and Rita, and James; as well as two infant siblings, Francis and Catherine.Waukon, Iowa newspaper, THE STANDARD, February 24, 2010
