Minerva Teeters
Minerva Teeters was born in Toronto, Canada, Sept. 19, 1845 and with her parents moved to Luana, Iowa in her early girlhood. She was married to A. C. Henderson January 31, 1865. To this union, seven children were born. One daughter passed away in childhood and she is survived by the other six; Winifred of Sundance, Wyoming; E. M. and D. B. of Waterloo; Mrs. Anna Knee of Indianapolis, Ind.; Mrs. Barbara Fox of Santa Rita, New Mexico; and Mrs. Alice McMoran of Harding, Wyoming.
Their pioneer home on Henderson Prairie was one of the freest hospitality aways having its latchstring out to rich or poor alike, abounding in feasting and music, and where ever there was a public gathering there they were with their organ to help with music and song and the influence of her sweet voice still lingers in the memories of the older settlers and where sickness or trouble was they were the first to be there and lend a helping hand.
They moved to Sundance, Wyoming, in 1890 where they made their home until about two years ago when on account of advancing yeas they moved to San Rita, New Mexico, and made their home with their daughter Barbara, where she peacefully passed away December 28, 1920, after a few days illness, surrounded by all her children who had had time to reach her bedside before the end came.
Besides her husband, hale and hearty in his 86th year she leaves her children and grandchildren besides hosts of friends to mourn her loss. After services at Santa Rita she was brought to Postville and laid to rest in the Postville cemetery on January 4, 1921, with brief services at the grave by C. M. Kerr.Postville Review
