Hubert Clark Luhman, 83, of Postville, died at his home March 30, 1979. Hubert was born December 6, 1895 in Postville and spent his early years here, graduating from Postville High School. He graduated from Capital Commercial College in Des Moines and was married to Thelma Sanderson August 12, 1926 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union one daughter, Valerie, was born.

"Hube" worked at the bank at Ridgeway and Denver, Colo.; and was a partner in Luhman and Huebner and operated the Commercial Hotel in Postville prior to his retirement in 1966.

Hubert was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204 of the Masons and was a former member of the Postville City Council, former president of the Postville Commercial Club and charter member of the Postville Kiwanis Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Frederick, Lloyd and Leland. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; one daughter, Valerie (Gary) Anderson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two grandsons: John Clark and Nathan Mark Anderson.

Services were held April 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church. The Rev. W. J. Tjaden officiated.

Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
