Rites For Leo Ferring Saturday

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6 from St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon for Leo M. Ferring, retired farmer of Waukon who died Thursday, May 5 following a heart attack. He was ill for 10 days.

The Rev. Robert Ferring, son of the deceased, was the officiating priest and interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

James Troendle, Vincent Haas, Leo Conway, Walter Troendle, Ralph Dougherty, and Benedict Zieman were pallbearers. Bakke and Hanson was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ferring was born Jan.2, 1897 in Lansing and was the son of Peter and Mary Gander Ferring. He was educated in the elementary schools. Feb. 27, 1922 he married Florence M. Haas in St. Mary's Church, Lycurgus. They lived in rural Waukon and Lansing before moving to Waukon.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters; Mrs. Lawrence(Rita)Ward of Waukon; Mrs. John(Jeanne)Bresnahan, Clinton; Mrs. Dale(Cecilia)Bublitz, Mason City; and Mrs. James(Virginia)Moore of New Albin; and two sons, the Rev. Robert L. Ferring of Dubuque and William Ferring of Waukon; 36 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Seven sisters; Mrs. Marie Troendle. Lansing; Mrs. Elsie Haas, Waukon; Mrs. Florence Manning, Lansing; Mrs. Clara Guider, Waukon; Mrs. Ethel Buchmann, LaCrosse, Wis.; and Sister Jane Francis of LaCrosse also survive.

Mr. Ferring was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Waukon, of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, and American Legion, and served in the armed forces.
