Death of Former New Albin Resident
Word was received here early this week of the death of a former well known lady, Mrs. Estelle Hannafin, 75, who passed away at Royal Oak, Mich., Saturday afternoon. The remains arrived in New Albin early Monday morning accompanied by her daughter, Miss Blanche, and were taken to the home of her niece, Mrs. Gilman Beelner, where the Rosary was recited by relatives and friends Monday evening at eight o'clock.
As Estelle Fish she was born at New Albin about 74 years ago and more than fifty years ago was married to the late Dr. T.F. Hannafin who preceded her in death more than 20 years ago. Left to mourn her passing are one daughter, Blanche, with whom she had made her home for the past several years, and one son, Edward, who is hospitalized and unable to attend the funeral. These services were held from St.Joseph's Catholic Church yesterday morning at nine o'clock with the resident pastor, Father John J. Costelloe, offering the Mass of Requiem and saying the final prayers at the graveside in the Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Hannafin was a kind and loving mother, devoted to her home and family and many friends throughout the northeast part of Allamakee will read with regret of her passing. She served for years as president of the New Albin Savings Bank and was a past president of the A.C.C.W. Lansing Deanery. She was a member of the Rosary Society of St.Joseph's Church and besides the above mentioned is survived by one sister, Mrs. John Vach of Chicago and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Earl Welsh, E. Weymiller, Ben Bunge, Gail Gantenbein, Lawrence and Vincent Imhoff.Allamakee Journal
