Herman A. Geick, son of Christian Geick and Henrietta Roggman Geick, was born on a farm near Hull, Iowa on March 20, 1882. He was baptized in infancy and was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hull, Iowa on March 29, 1896. He died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville on June 27, 1961 at the age of 79 years, three months and seven days.

On February 8, 1928, he was married to Luella Casten. For a number of years they made their home in Rock Rapids, Iowa. They moved to Postville in 1938.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away on June 22, 1956, by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

He is survived by one brother, William J. Geick of Rock Rapids, a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Postville on July 1, with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, officiating. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
