Mildred M. Fischer
Mildred Maxine Fischer, 95, of Garnavillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003.
Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, conducted by Rev. Barbara Wills.
Concluding service was at Postville City Cemetery, Postville. Casketbearers were Jeff Hanson, Jeff Kolb, Roger Guyer, Paul Bischoff, Dennis Hamann and Robert Bischoff.
Mildred Maxine Fischer was born the daughter of Fred and Emma (Samp) Pardee, Sept. 20, 1907, on the family farm near Alexandria, S. D.
Mildred graduated from Volga Public School on May 25, 1926, and from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. She taught school and was a librarian for many years. Mildred enjoyed reading, needlepoint and traveling. On May 25, 1939, she was united in marriage with Albert "Chris" Fischer in Manchester,
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine (Edward) Hanson of Flint, Mich.; two grandchildren, Cynthia Hanson and Jeff Hanson; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Pardee of Wadena and Charlotte Pardee of Des Moines.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Chris, and four brothers, Elias, Kenneth, Dean and Donald.
Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
